After losing their top starter in April for a second straight year, the Atlanta Braves were in need of others to step up. The rotation certainly answered the call on this homestand.
With Spencer Strider done for the year, the Braves were waiting to see Max Fried get on track. That happened with a complete game shut-out against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday. Fried's gem came on the heels of Bryce Elder's return effort and ahead of another great start from Reynaldo Lopez. Along with veterans Chris Sale and Charlie Morton, Atlanta's starting staff is adjusting to life without Strider as best it can.
Meanwhile, the return of Ozzie Albies will boost a lineup that remains one of the best in MLB despite some slow starts and less than expected power production in the early going. It could help the Atlanta offense put all the pieces in place for a hot streak as the weather begins to heat up.
